Legal Malpractice Hurts
Being let down by your attorney is one of the worst things in life. We go to an attorney only when there is a potential problem, or worse, to solve a real problem. When big things in our life loom we look to lawyers to help and insulate us. Buying a home? Starting a business? Want to make out your will? We all know that it’s best to use an attorney. Why? Because these things are serious, and have consequences. Even more important, mistakes can be made that will seriously endanger us.
In worse situations, we all know that an attorney is needed. Arrested? Been injured? Been fired for no good reason? An attorney can help. So, when the attorney lets us down, when the lawyer makes a mistake, when out trusted representative doesn’t return phone calls, we are devastated.
What can you do? One thing to do is to try to get the attorney to do the right thing. Generally, all we want is communication and answers. Attorneys are required to communicate with their clients and are required to answer questions. All too often they don’t. All too often, attorneys treat clients as an annoyance.
You do not need to feel hopeless. Sometimes a call from another attorney can set things right. Sometimes you have to switch attorneys, and find one that is better and more attuned to you. Sometimes you have to hire a legal malpractice attorney to set things right.
